Does anyone know why this plugin has been closed since July 5th?

I haven’t been able to find any security reports. I have many clients still using this plugin, and if there is a security issue, it would be very helpful to know so we can address it.

    Thanks!

  • Hey all. I transferred ownership of this plugin to 5fifty around two years ago when I stopped developing for WordPress.

Shortly after that my write access to the project was revoked. Aside from some branding edits, the code appears to have been largely unmaintained.

I don’t know if it was abandoned voluntarily (in which case anyone can email wordpress to adopt it) or other reasons.

    Thanks Luke!

I’d be interested in adopting it… a lot of my clients use it and I’d like to make sure if it does need any security patches that they are addressed. I’ll work on figuring out who to email about this, thanks. ??

    Hey Luke,

Do you happen to have the contact info for 5fifty? I”m not able to find it, and I need to make serious attempts to contact them before the Plugin team will consider allowing me to take over management of this plugin.

(Probably best not to post it here.. you can email me at andrew – at – nerdpress – dot – net.)

    Thanks! ??

So no security issues with the current code base as far as you can tell @bitacre ?

@eatingrules @bitacre we aren’t aware why the plugin was closed, presumably because of lack of update.

We’ve had a few challenges bringing this one up to date with Gutenberg. Considerable work went into it in the background before it was closed and we had chance to get an update rolled out.

    @ginmi no, not security related.

Andrew, happy to chat on here and answer any questions.

I’ve had this plugin installed for a couple of years and (one reason I) have avoided updating to Gutenberg because I like using this. It appears to be actively updated now and I’m looking at making updates to my site; installing Gutenberg and then the Classic editor plugin.

I assume if you update to Gutenberg you still need to install the Classic Editor Plugin and then this will still work?

Can you please answer a very basic question for me, and confirm if/whether using the “open in a new tab” adds on something that causes a “no referrer” and is a bad option for affiliate links? I checked via my text editor and I can’t see that it has been added, but I’ve seen references to it in articles like this one: https://blogaid.net/ultimate-guide-for-creating-links-in-wordpress/

@5fifty It looks like you were able to get the plugin “reopened” – very glad to see it!

@es-ivy It would be best if you open a new support thread, rather than adding on to this one, so the developer can help you out there. ??

    Thanks @eatingrules
