• Is there anything anyone can do to speed up a site while it’s under development? I’m getting hosting thru InMotion Web Hosting. My plan is shared hosting, which isn’t terribly fast, but other sites I have worked on and am hosting for clients are reasonably fast. The wordpress site I have now is so slow I keep thinking the server has crashed– sometimes I can wait 30 seconds for the Media Library items to show up

  • Hi omigosh

There is a very good wordpress plugin – w3 total cache – with wich you can compress your css and speed up your Website. You can use the Google PageSpeed to test the speed of your Website.

When I used it on my homepage the PageSpeed increased from 77 to 86.

Thanks. My concern is the speed of updating pages while I’m still creating them as my Google speed isn’t too bad, though not as good as yours. Do you know if you can use MAMP or WAMP to develop a site on your computer and upload it later?
