Why new Block format???
-
I went to make a tutorial to my client how easy it is to post to word press when I found this block system. I don’t think my clients are going to want to learn this just to write a post.
Glad you kept the classic maybe I can get used to this new format myself someday.

Hey @roncz
While the new interface is a bit of a shock to those of us who have used the old interface for near on a decade, the new block based editor is well worth giving a shot. When combined with good theme support you’ll hopefully find clients loving it and it solving many things that have scared clients from editing content in the past.
I’d highly suggest you take a look at these resources, particularly the State of the Word video and the Gutenberg FAQ from Matt:

Like any new thing, just practice and get used to it.

Yea, Yea I agree with you all but I am trying to teach people to write on the blog and those blocks will drive them crazy. They are used to word document formatting. I hope the creators never get rid of the classic or I will have to find something else to have my clients use.
They are not internet savvy.

Prefer to stick with the familiar Classic Editor? No problem! The Classic Editor plugin restores the previous WordPress editor and the Edit Post screen. It lets you keep using plugins that extend it, add old-style meta boxes, or otherwise depend on the previous editor. To install, visit your plugins page and click the “Install Now” button next to “Classic Editor”. After the plugin finishes installing, click “Activate”. That’s it!
Yes already found it. My message please keep the classic. I work with older people and this is what they are used to.
Glad you found it ??
Be (very) carefull what t-p is not saying is that this plugin will only be supported until 2021. And it seems there is no plans after that.
DECEMBER 2021.
Well be looking for another blog
When particular individuals cross the line from constructive to un-constructive feedback we usually step in. You guys haven’t done anything wrong and you won’t be moderated for giving feedback.

OK let’s keep this constructive so Word Press has a plan to move forward. Since writing this post and sharing the classic plug in with my client he has still not understood the tutorial I made to start writing posts. Even with my video example and the easier classic editing he still has not engaged.
I fear Word press will be a thing of the developers and creative producers going forward and leaving the common folk behind. In video editing we determine who’s your target audience and then edit for them.
I empathise with your fear and I hope it gives comfort that not everyone contributing to Gutenberg agrees with the timeline of the changes. We just try to do the best with the situation and improve how things are now, through all the feedback we can find on the forums.
Wow, there is a lot to unpack in this feedback topic. I’m going to go off topic to cover some accusations here.
There’s a lot of mean spirited posts on these forums and elsewhere from people who are letting their anger and disappointment drive their behavior.
That is causing them to do abusive things they normally would not do. Depending on the severity the user will either get moderated or banned here.
- If you are spamming or trolling these forums then that will get dealt with. Your post will get archived and a note will be added to your account. If you are real person (why reply to automated bots about “male enhancement”?) then you’ll get a
@
reply which is usually archived too. The@
reply will go to your inbox if your email address is still valid. This site sends out an amazing amount of email. It will be sent but some less informed mail systems reject it or flag it as Spam.
Being less than helpful, replying to many topics in the same unhelpful way? This isn’t new. Spammers and trolls get moderated. Being unhappy about the new editor isn’t trolling. Conspiracy Theories?, spamming and rage posting all over the place sure is.
- When someone is banned, it is always for cause and there are no exceptions. You may not agree but when someone is banned it is always due to their own behavior and nothing else.
Rage posting will not get you banned. Spamming about a fork will not get you banned. That behavior will get you moderated. That’s not a new thing and by moderated I mean that your replies and posts will need to be approved by a moderator before anyone else sees it.
Persisting in that abuse after several warning, name calling, stalking, much profanity (hey, there are limits), etc. and my personal favorite, sock puppets, those things will get you banned. There are limits to how much abuse can be heaped upon volunteers in a community opensource project.
If you need to create a new fake account to “prove your point” or get around moderation then you are using the tactics of spammers and abusers. You will lose all of your accounts here.
Again, none of this is new. Being upset about the new editor is fine. Feedback about that is fine too and it works. You may not get what you want but the new editor has been improved in multiple iterations and that was all driven forward by users.
But if you’re trying to use these forums as your attack platform then please don’t be surprised when that abuse has consequences.
I now return the viewer back to the normal regularly scheduled channel.
