Why No 1 thought about this great WIDGET ?

I have spent ages searching for a beautiful events widget that I can add to my sidebar that does not look like a calendar.
After all, I managed to find one, but its limited to events from a particular events promotion company and its here https://www.widgetbox.com/widget/events-im-going-to

I was thinking if any guru can make similar widget, but as ‘open source’ meaning one can create and manage his own events and possibly place a link to the events if they are histed outside.

Something similar to facebook events.
