    Hello,
I’m considering using Quark to do a full width responsive site that has already been designed in Photoshop. I was wondering why the Quark web site says it’s not necessary to use a child theme. Does this mean no further updates to the Quark theme are planned? Otherwise, wouldn’t the customizations get over written?
I noticed the last update was in Feb. I just want to make sure I’m starting this new site out with a theme that has a long future, so looking for a little reassurance.
    Thanks.
    Rachel

    Hi Rachel,

Yep, there will be more updates coming soon. In fact, the version on my Github account has a few extra changes that haven’t been released on the .org site as yet. (Since the Theme Reveiew Team have a lot of themes to constantly review, they prefer that you wait until you have a significant change to your theme, rather than making lots of submissions with only small changes).

You can download the very latest version of Quark from github – https://github.com/maddisondesigns/Quark/archive/master.zip

My original intent for Quark was to create a starter theme that developers could use as a starting point for creating sites. That was the only reason why I suggested that there’s no need to create a child theme if you don’t want to.

If your only interested in making some minor changes and you want to get theme updates, then yep, go ahead and create a Quark child theme.

I hope that’s answered all your questions, but let me know if you have any others.

    Thanks.
