    Hey,

I just want to know.. why do you require swift mailer to be installed separately as a plugin by a different developer? Why not bake it into your plugin so people don’t have to find the text (that’s not really that visible) in the descriptions and manually search for the swift mailer plugin to install that too..

I can’t imagine there’s an copyrights issue since it does not seem like the developer of the swift mailer plugin owns swift mailer in any way either. If there is some sort of legal thing behind it perhaps you could at least make the references to the plugin into links that leads directly there. Then people can at least be confident they’re downloading the correct plugin.

    Thanks!

    Hi.

We prefer that our users use the API method of sending emails. However some users can only send email via SMTP. In order to offer this functionality early we implemented it using a third party plugin that we considered feasible at that time, that is Swift Mailer.

As per your suggestion we included a link directly to the plugin page in the Installation tab and in the offical SendGrid documentation here : https://sendgrid.com/docs/Integrate/Tutorials/WordPress/sendgrid_wordpress_plugin.html

    Thank you!

    Hi,

So you’re saying that if one uses the API method swift mailer is not required?
That’d been nice to know ??

In any case thanks for clarification!

    Hi.

Yes. Swift Mailer is not required if you are sending email via the API. From the Installation tab :
“To send emails through SMTP you need to also install the ‘Swift Mailer’ plugin. ( https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/swift-mailer/ )”

So only if you want to send via SMTP you need to install it.
