I was going to buy the pro version because of the bulk translate function (I need to translate 90 pages and posts to 10 languages).
The free version is not working for most of the languages (nothing happens when I click the translate button in half of the languages).
There is no documentation at all, no FAQ, no info about the functions of the Pro version (like, does it translate meta page titles/description from Yoast).

So tell me, why should I risk spending €49 on that plugin?

just to clarify, I am using WPML

Nobody asks you to risk money on the batch translation extension.
Feel free to post a detailed bug report if you need help with the free plugin

So I tried to reproduce the error today (free version), and now the translate function does work in all languages. Could be the issue was with deepl itself yesterday?
What I did yesterday is I opened 6 translations for one post, each in a new tab, filled them with the english original text, then translated each one of them to the corresponding language. At that point, for some languages, the translate button worked, for some others, nothing happened, not even a “busy signal” showed.
    1. Is that the correct way to do it?
Btw, no meta titles and descriptions were translated from Yoast. Also, no alt image text was translated: play uk lottery australia, when I translate those manually, it usually translates the “play uk lottery” part.
At the same time, when translating manually, sometimes deepl translates code bits like >strong>, that does not seem to happen when I use the plugin. Maybe via the API deel works a little differently from the manual method?
Anyway, I will buy the pro version, hope it works with my setup.
Question re: pro version: Is there a limitation as to how many pages/posts I should mark for one batch, so maybe translate only 10 at a time?

One more thing – I also need to translate to a few languages that deepl does not support, cn you recommend a plugin that does the same with Google translator (ideally, with a batch function)?

I now installed the pro plugin on one site, and I am getting an error message, and none of the translate functions are showing in the list of pages or posts.

The bug is fixed in v1.0.1 – updated on fluenx ; it’s due to no post types or language selected (in Settings / DeepL Translation / Bulk translate)

    Thread Starter catfishtpa

    (@catfishtpa)

I downloaded the plugin from your site minutes ago, and it was v 1.0. How do I get Version 1.01 – I cannot find it in my Fluenx account?

    Thread Starter catfishtpa

    (@catfishtpa)

Can you email it to my registered email from my buyer acccount?

    Thread Starter catfishtpa

    (@catfishtpa)

On the first site where I installed it, the error code is showing. Settings/Deepl translation/Bulk translate does not exist at all.

I then installed the plugin on another website, and here Settings/Deepl translation/Bulk translate is showing, and I am getting the same error code at the beginning.
When I select pages and posts in the settings, the error code disappears (had to update twice though).
I then ran a test and translated one post. The result is that the existing post is translated, the plugin does not generate a new, translated item of the original. Also, it is not set to be a translation of the English original, so it does not work with the way WPML is set up.

Yep, you’re expecting extended WPML behaviour from this plugin (or the extension) which it does not offer.
You have to create the “duplicate” post in the target language, then translate it (whether in the post edit page or from the admin list with the batch extension)

    Plugin Author malaiac

    (@malaiac)

One solution would be to use the Deepl support from WPML

    Thread Starter catfishtpa

    (@catfishtpa)

Definitely not intuitive – you should absolutely have at least some basic documentation or manual explaining how the plugin works.
It seems that the only way to do this is:
    1. create one translated item per post and language
    2. copy original content to the new post
    3. repeat for all posts
    4. mark the new posts and then translate them in bulk
    5. repeat from step 1 for the next post

I am not sure if that is just because the plugin does not work well with WPML?
I expected that I would be able to select a batch of posts, select a translation language, click apply and the plugin would then create a WPML translation, with each new post marked with the correct new language and set to be a translation of the specific original english post?

    Thread Starter catfishtpa

    (@catfishtpa)

On the first site where I tried to install the plugin, I now uninstalled it. Then I also uninstalled a few other plugins to avoid issues.
Then I reinstalled the plugin. Error code shows again, and in settings, the is no reference to the deepl translation plugin showing at all.
I tried to reinstall three times now, the result is always the same.

    Thread Starter catfishtpa

    (@catfishtpa)

You have to create the “duplicate” post in the target language, then translate it (whether in the post edit page or from the admin list with the batch extension)

yes that is what I thought. A little more work, but still faster than doing it by hand, so ok.

But like I said, a user manual would be nice. Saves you time doing support as well, I’d think.

Also, keyphrase, meta title, description, slug from Yoast SEO are not translated

Still, the issues on the second site I cannot explain.

    Thread Starter catfishtpa

    (@catfishtpa)

On that second site, I uninstalled the pro plugin and installed the free version again. Entered the deepl API, and now the plugin is not working at all. Clicked the translate button, nothing happens.
