Why Slimjetpack instead of setting Jetpack development mode?

This looks like a handy plugin, but I was wondering, what are the advantages of using this over setting Jetpack to development-mode (you can be not connected to WP, and yet enable other features)? – for example: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/surbma-jetpack-development-mode/
