I had my site in maintenance mode so Cron wasn’t running for a few days. When I looked at my cron jobs, I had over a thousand jobs from this plugin.

Is this normal and what is wp_mail_smtp doing?

Never mind, I uninstalled. Now I just have to wait 6 days for your thousands of cron jobs to run. Jobs every few seconds? Thousands of them? That doesn’t seem right.

If anyone wants to know how to clean this up, uninstall the plugin. Go to your PHPmyAdmin. Search your database for wp_mail_smtp_new_event
Delete what you find. Your dashboard and site will be noticeably faster.

If you want to see what you’ve got scheduled in cron, get the plugin WP Crontrol.

If you need an alternate SMTP mailer plugin, search for Postman SMTP.
