• I love the plugin, as I love mailchimp. But why are there so many updates?? Is that to keep the plugin high in the WordPress directory?
Not necessary, it is a good plugin, people looking for quality will find you anyway.

    Hi Leaving Holland,

Thanks, glad you like the plugin.

We stick to a bi-monthly development schedule so that’s why you are most likely seeing an update every 2-4 weeks. Most of these updates are so-called “minor updates”, meaning they do not include any breaking changes. It is therefore safe to apply the updates whenever you see fit without it risking breaking your functionality.

The frequency of plugin updates does not really affect a plugin’s ranking on www.ads-software.com as far as we know, and it’s not something we’re aiming for at all. It’s just that a plugin as big as this requires constant maintenance. Some examples:

    – Updated integrations with other plugins. Basically any change in any of the plugins we integrate with could also trigger a change in our plugin to ensure things keep working.
    – Updated API communication with MailChimp. Any change in MailChimp’s API scheme could also trigger a change in our plugin.
    – Updated language files
    – Edge case bugs or issues which were spotted through our various support channels

As you see, there are a lot of different things working together which need constant maintenance. We try to keep the updates to a minimum though, but rest assured, you don’t have to worry about the frequency at all. It is the wrong kind of metric to focus on. It’s all about quality (which you said already :)).

    Cheers, Danny
