    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you ran into issues with the new update. I’m also not sure why your post was held for moderation – I saw the original post and responded to that, but it seems to have gone missing now.

Could you please confirm the WordPress and PHP version that you’re seeing issues on?

Also, could you please check to see if there are any errors logged? You should be able to do that by enabling WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG if you haven’t already, and then reload the page when the critical error occurs:

    Debugging in WordPress

Alternatively, if you have any details from your server’s PHP error log, feel free to send that over as well.

6.0.7 works fine, but 6.1.x caused critical error.

Seems WP is moderating keywords, anyway there was a Wordfence announcement about ACF, so i updated ACF accordingly.

6.0.7 works fine, but 6.1.x caused critical error.

@pao2 Thanks for confirming. Could you please reach out to us directly, either via our ACF support forum or by submitting a ticket?

I haven’t seen any similar reports of this issue on ACF 6.1.1, but since that was released very recently it’d be great to get to the bottom of this one as quickly as possible.

Opened a ticket #6366032 due to the urgent nature of this update for the fate of all mankind.

Now when i tried updating to 6.1.2, it threw “The update cannot be installed because some files could not be copied. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions” error

Debug says “chmod(): Operation not permitted in /public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 173”

Files have 664 permission and are owned by www-data, not sure what’s the problem here as other plugins never had this issue when updating, nor the version 6.0.7.

Following further follow up on via our support system, we’ve determined this issue was caused by a file system permissions error which prevented WordPress being able to download and unzip ACF 6.1 correctly.

Because ACF 6.1 contains significant changes to our files and folder structure, permission errors might be more noticeable when upgrading to this version as WordPress cannot create new folders as part of the extraction process.

If you have similar issues, please contact your web hosting provider.

    What’s this?

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function get_current_screen()

    /wp-content/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/includes/class-acf-internal-post-type.php(401): get_posts()

6.1.x had permission problem and this is my fault how? Your support needs to stop gaslighting your users.

6.1.3 fixed the permission thing, but i had to add check for get_current_screen().
