Why was ‘WordPress phpinfo()’ removed from WP ?

I am here for the same reason.
I’ve removed for safety concerns pending further information. In past experience it was because a plugin had malware, so I’m not taking chances.

Yes DH, you’re correct – there cannot be a good reason why it was removed!

Many of these plugins have very similar names, and I see that I also use a different plugin for the same job – it was updated 4 weeks ago so I will only use this from now on (I have no connection with plugin/author):

This is my plugin, there’s no malware. I’m curious as well because I did not receive notification about my plugin being removed.

There was another plugin I encountered around the same time that experienced the same fate (although I forget the name of it now).
When the plugin author enquired, it turned out that WP had removed it in error, and it was reinstated soon afterwards. Ymmv.

Can you please update your plugin, we use it in some themes so it would be great if you publish it again.

@yllipylla I don’t know that there’s anything that he can do on his end. We should know the general reason for its removal on the 14th or so on the main plugin page (I spoke with one of the folks on the Plugins team, that’s how I know).

Assuming that it’s not a security-related issue, though, you could fork the plugin & have your own copy. Not ideal, but maybe that’d be enough for your needs?
