Hi @dianemk,
If the PayPal business account did not previously accept the terms for the new PayPal credit card agreement (which is required to use the PayPal Card Processing), then you have the opportunity to apply for the feature during the onboarding process. This is an optional step though and it should not affect the account verification, that’s what we were told.
The worst thing that could happen during the onboarding is that the application for the PayPal Card Processing is rejected. But that wouldn’t impact the PayPal account itself in any significant way beyond not having access to the advanced credit card functionality.
You should still be able to utilize the regular smart buttons with your account.
We aim to make the latest PayPal features accessible to everyone with the new plugin and regret hearing if anything bad happens after using it. There are currently some understandable concerns from users regarding the onboarding process and we aim to simplify and document it better. But for matters relating to the status of the PayPal account, the PayPal merchant support would be the best contact to get this rectified.
Kind regards,
Niklas
