• Even though the theme has added theme support for wide (and full width) blocks,
this does not actually work on the front.
The editor does not match the front.

  • Hi @poena!

Could you please tell us a bit more about your site? Are you using a child theme? If yes, which one?

Also, if possible, please share the URL to your site.

    Thank you!

    Hi
    No, no child theme.
I am a theme developer and I just wanted to see how Storefront had solved their blocks,
but it looks like they haven’t.

The site is not live, it’s on localhost.
I simply activated the theme, and opened a post that had wide and full width blocks.
I use this theme unit test: https://github.com/WPTRT/theme-unit-test/tree/blocks
It does not matter what type of block that is set to full width, neither of them has the same widths in the editor and the front.

    WordPress 5.0, php 7.2.12
    -WooCommerce is not installed.

Make sure you don’t have any widgets in the sidebar, that will prevent the blocks from going full width.

Did you download the theme from www.ads-software.com?

    (@poena)

I downloaded it via the interface on my WP installation.

I am sure you can understand my point of view.
I am trying to find a workaround and that is why I was hoping storefront had already solved it ??

The theme has a sidebar by default. There is also no post template for me to choose where there is no sidebar. The template is only for pages.

Since there is no way -yet- to enable wide and full width alignments per postformat or say, post template, the theme should recognize this and adjust their block widths depending on if the sidebar is active.

-It should not be up to the theme user to solve.

But, it is also not only the widths, but the margins between for example the cover (image) blocks. There is none.

@poena If I am reading this correctly, you are not needing assistance with Storefront, correct? You were looking for a solution for themes you are working on?

I am looking for a solution but I also think the current version of Storefront is broken and that the problem should be solved.
Even if I dont use Storefront for a live site, the problem will affect others too.

I personally do not have enough experience with Gutenberg to know if the exact margins from the editor to the front end can be set the same.
@tiagonoronha this is more your ground.

Also, I do not believe there’s ever been a post template in Storefront to allow full-width blog posts. The theme is geared toward stores, products and pages.

Hi @poena I’ve found a thread that was closed recently and ran some test. I’ve reopened this issue on GitHub. Could you confirm this is the problem you’re experiencing?

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
