I did some more testing… and suddenly I understood the problem!

Indeed, when the number of upcoming events is greater than the defined limit, the output is problematic: the widget displays events in the far future, instead of displaying the closest dates.

I just fixed the issue, you can already download a version here from github: https://github.com/ms-studio/minimalistic-event-manager/archive/1.0.8.zip

It will be pushed out shortly via WordPress plugin updates.

Just noting that this behavior is fixed in the current version (1.0.9).
