    I thought a widget might be handy, as a sidebar can be a nice area to place additional features like PDF download links.

    Here it is on my demo site at the moment if you’re interested!

    At the moment I’m using this widget to create the PDF widget, which makes me a bit nervous, but works for the time being.

    If you made a shortcode and nothing else I would be happy too though as you can enable shortcodes in widgets with

    add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');

    Thanks again for the great plugin.

    I’ll see what I can do to add a widget in the future, bundled with the plugin. As with all positioning options, I can see that this has merit, as it provides a consistent location for the button/link.

    As I’ve mentioned, shortcodes are indeed on the roadmap, with the initial one being just a simple one for plcement of the pdf button using the settings as defined in the admin area. Later on, however, I want to allow option strings to override fonts and such in the shortcode.

    Thanks again for your donation, Alex, for your thoughtful comments, and for the great demo of the widget!

    Cheers

    Alex, have a look at my follow-up to Ellyn’s initial request for a shortcode, here. Please let me know if that suits your immediate need.

    Alex, is there any urgency to a widget at this point, once 1.0.1 is released with shortcode support? If so, I’ll look at this again. (I wanted to push out the CSS support and address the image alignment issues we were seeing.)

    Cheers

    Thanks Lewis sorry for the delay.

    I’ll have a test from scratch tonight with regard to the image alignment and CSS. I wanted to check with different themes and maybe LEMP vs LAMP to rule everything out.

    I’m happy with using the shortcode in the text widget, so I don’t really need a dedicated widget at this stage.

    Thanks again

    No worries, Alex!

    Thanks for letting me know. I’m going to mark this as resolved for now (in my bugtracker it’s a wontfix for the time being).

    Cheers
