I am only putting this here, from 5.8 on up to 6.6 I believe which was released on July 16 which was when my own self hosted WordPress was updated the classic widget plug in worked great. I had the Social Icons showing up on my page, and now they no longer show up. At least the icons. I can hover over where the links are, but there is no Icon for Facebook, Twitter, Mastodon. Etc. I don’t know if there will be a fix, but wanted to let others know if your using WordPress 6.6 and have classic widgets installed, it’s broken now.

If the links are still there it may be a CSS problem on the front-end that makes the icons “invisible”? Maybe right-click and see the actual HTML in the browser console. If that’s the reason perhaps this can help to figure out where that CSS comes from.

Another idea would be to try using the “new” widgets UI unless there is a plugin that requires use of the old UI. Generally the old style widgets are far inferior to the new, block based widgets.

I am also having a problem with the Classic Widgets plugin.

My comments widget does not update now that the Classic Widgets plugin has been installed. I am using the 2016 theme and have the correct php version. Anything else I should check?

    Thank you!
