• Hi,

I’ve been using turbo sidebars inside my pages, with html content inside.

It’s been a while since I’ve gone into the dashboard of my site – and I did update some plugins – but when I went into the widgets section, it looks different to how I remember, and some of my widgets either appear empty, or when I expand them I get a message saying ‘Request-URI too long – the requested URLs length exceeds the capacity limit for this server’. The weird thing is that others that were set up in the same way are still there.

There were also some messages like this (one example):
“The custom_html block was affected by errors and may not function properly. Check the developer tools for more details.”

Losing them would be huge, so I’m hoping someone will be able to identify the problem and suggest a way to fix it. Hoping that they haven’t just ‘gone’ ??

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Many thanks,
    Neil

    Hi Neil,

Sorry I’m not really sure where to start with this one (and apologies for the late reply, I had missed this thread completely).

Are you able to shed some light on the Widgets in question, and also what other plugins you may have?

Also, what version of WordPress are you running?

    Ta,
    Todd

    Dear @toddhalfpenny !

I have a similar problem, though I don’t know if it is related. I am running my company website https//konstruktiv-berlin.de with wordpress and the doriyaki theme by elmastudios https://www.elmastudio.de/wordpress-themes/dorayaki/

The theme heavily uses widgets_on_pages but only a very old version 0.0.12 seemed to work and the theme broke whenever I tried upgrading the widgets plugin. Now it seems to me that wordpress changed the way widgets are configured completely. I think wordpress updated automatically to 5.8.2. PHP Version is 5.6.40-57+0~20211119.60+debian9~1.gbp8a9bd1 and it tells me I should update.

All widgets the doriyaki theme is using are marked inactive and the corresponding areas on the webpage are empty.

Could you please help us with this?

    Kind regards,
    Felix
