Hi Chris – first of all do just want to thank you for putting together this awesome plugin; had given up on testimonial plugins and have been doing it semi-manually across dozens of sites as wasn’t happy with any I’ve tried previously. On starting a new build I discovered yours and thought ‘fantastic, just what I want’, however unfortunately it appears to be having a conflict with the theme I’m using on this particular site.

The issue I’m having is on the free version of the Vantage theme, I want to include the cycling widget inside a widgetised area created by Vantage’s Home Page page builder, however the full widget options are not appearing (Show each for:, Transition effect:, Effect duration: and Pause on hover do not appear when adding a widget in the Vantage home page builder as they do when using the WP widgets menu) and if I select the cycle radio as soon as I click done to leave the widget options it has reset to static.

Arguably, I’m being lazy, as I could just include the cycle shortcode here and restyle and I believe that will do the trick, but as Vantage is a great theme and pretty popular I’m sure others would appreciate this conflict being resolved.

Site is under construction but I am building it live here if you want to take a look, a fix for this would be greatly appreciated but feel free to tell me to stop being lazy and use the cycle shortcode!

Thanks! I’m glad you’re finding it useful.

If anyone’s lazy here, it’s me. I’ve known about this conflict for a while but was hoping to solve it permanently with an architecture change in version 2.0 instead of yet another workaround in 1.next.

The problem is that the normal widget admin uses a little Ajax to handle small UI tricks like disabling “Number to show” if “Show all” is selected. That Ajax won’t run in drag-n-droppers like Page Builder.

Vantage is great and Page Builder is really nice and I want Strong to maintain a high degree of compatibility so if I can make them play nice without significant refactoring, I will.

But the cycle shortcode and its settings page are more like what I have in mind for version 2.0 that will act like flexible contact forms or image sliders that you configure then use anywhere; the widget settings will be no more.

So I suggest giving the cycle shortcode a go. And you might try deselecting the Pages stylesheet and style up from there.

Cheers Chris, really appreciate the quick response, will use the cycle shortcode for this build.

As I am using the ‘all’ shortcode to display full testimonials elsewhere on the site I assume I will need to keep the ‘Pages’ stylesheet active and make new style rules specific to the ‘cycle’ shortcode, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.

I’m very close to making Strong fully compatible with Page Builder and therefore Vantage. Page Builder doesn’t seem to properly handle radio buttons in widgets. I’ve notified the developer and I’m trying to find a workaround. If that issue cannot be resolved then I will rework the widget until they are compatible.

I just tested Page Builder 2.0-beta and the radio buttons are working perfectly. So look for an update from SiteOrigin soon.
