    Hi,
I am using the widget from this plugin. Most of it translates nicely into German, some of it I translated myself with the help of the style localization plugin, but the most important parts: the first name, last name and Email Address won’t translate and they don’t appear in the mo files (when I check with the localization plugin).

    What can I do?

    Thank you for your help.

Also, I’d like to activate that the subscribers have to confirm their subscription by clicking on a link that is sent to them by email. Where can I find this setting?

    Best regards

    Nadine

  • Hi Famhud,

Thanks for hopping in the forum. The labels for all fields in the plugin are pulled directly from the MailChimp list. Those fields would need to be translated in the MailChimp lists settings. Here’s a great guide from the MailChimp knowledge base on modifying fields in a list:

Manage List and Signup Form Fields: https://eepurl.com/gOHW

By default the plugin will use the double opt-in process which requires confirming before subscribers are added to the list. The confirmation link is located in the subscription confirmation email. This feature wouldn’t have to be activated, it’s enabled by default. This guide has details on customizing all the pages during the signup process:

    Hi,
Thank you for your quick reply.
I did translate the “general form” in my mailchimp account and there, the form is fine (in German), however, the changes aren’t transferred to the form on the website. Although they are connected and when someone subscribes to the list on the website, it adds them to the list on mailchimp.

    What could be the problem?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hey Nadine!

It’s good to hear from you.

Can you let us know your site’s URL, while also providing a link to your MailChimp-hosted signup form for that list? It’s also worth noting that the plugin would actually utilize the field labels for the list, rather than pulling in any auto-translated content. Those fields can be found by opening the list in MC, clicking Settings, and selecting List fields and *|MERGE|* tags.

Have a good one, and we’ll keep our eyes peeled for your reply!

    Dear Elliot

Thank you. I checked under Settings, List fields and Merge tags and there the field names are correct (in German).

The URL to the signup form is https://us8.admin.mailchimp.com/lists/designer/?id=410441

The URL of the site: https://www.swisstravelclub.ch/ (the form is on the landing page when you scroll down on the left)

I appreciate your help. Best regards

    Nadine

    Hi Famhud,

Thanks for that information. Everything seems to be setup correctly with the form and the fields are translated. If the fields aren’t updated in WordPress try updating the list. From the WordPress Admin area select Settings > MailChimp Setup. Click the Update List button beside the list.

If that doesn’t work, try disconnecting the plugin and uninstalling it then reinstall. This can help to refresh everything.

Let us know if you any other issues.

    Hi,

I’ve followed your advice: updated the list several times and then uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin, but the problem persists.

    What can I do?

    Thank you and best regards
    Nadine

    Hi Famhud,

Unfortunately, I’m unable to replicate the field updating issue. There could be a problem with the local WordPress install of the plugin. Were any changes made to the plugin’s code? And when deleting the plugin was the option to delete the files selected?

At times other plugins can cause issues. Could you temporarily disable all plugins except the subscribe plugin? Then try clicking the Update List button at the top of the plugin settings page, here’s screenshot of that button: https://awesomescreenshot.com/0ee3428td0

Let us know if you have any other problems after trying this.

    Hi,

Thank you so much for your help. I deleted the plugin again and re-installed it and this time it works. ??

    All sorted.

    Best regards
