• Neither the new drop-down menu nor the old widget page are working in 3.9 for me.

Both links send me to the old widgets page. There, the widgets on the left are displayed, but you can’t do anything with them. The right hand side is blank.

I have not attempted to switch the theme with a live preview since the upgrade.

Also, though the widgets aren’t visible, they still appear to be working, though the recent articles widget is displaying excerpts strangely now (warwickpost.com) which is why I tried to get in to the widgets area in the first place.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

OK, mostly solved – a plugin update of Broadstreet Ad Server and WP Ad rotator solved the missing widget issue.

The recent news excerpts are still behaving weirdly.
