• Hi, I hope I can explain this. I just upgraded to the new version of WordPress and am really trying to figure this all out. I was in the widget control panel and I dragged and dropped some widgets into different sidebars just to get an idea of where they are and what they look like. The first few didn’t look like they dragged into the sidebar. Now the sidebars are empty but those first widgets are still displaying. I have gone into options >> reset. It doesn’t matter what theme I select, these 3 widgets keep coming up. I’ve done a couple of searches in the forum but I’m not sure of the best search terms to use.

    my site is kidfriendlymanitoba.com/news

    Thanks in advance!

  • I would try disabling any plugins you have active to see if any one of them is the culprit of this problem.

I only have Akismet and Hello Dolly and the are not enabled. This was the first time I actually started playing with WordPress. I was using blogger and my husband was doing the site design with Dreamweaver. I wasn’t happy with how things were turning out so I decided to figure WordPress out. Shouldn’t be too difficult to learn, (I have a computer programming diploma although I haven’t done any programming for a long time) and I screw it up on my first attempt!

Maybe I should delete the whole thing and start from scratch.

    Starting from scratch couldn’t hurt.

First rule of thumb I always have, never touch WordPress with Dreamweaver, it’s just asking for trouble.

Try also dragging the widgets back to the left side, it should make them disappear from the existing sidebar.

We didn’t use Dreamweaver with WordPress ??

The widgets aren’t visible to drag out of the sidebars. I think I will just delete and start over!

Thanks for you help! I’m sure I will be back.
