I’m running the Weaver Xtreme theme on the website https://tryoncreek.org. I’ve created a blog signup widget, which I’d like to only display on the blog posts page, so I chose “Set all options to ‘No'” and then manually changed the setting to “Yes” for “Show widgets on the posts page?” Nevertheless, this widget still does not appear on the blog’s sidebar.

At the same time, on the blog I would like the two usual widgets, the News and the mailing list signup, to be hidden. In both of those widgets, I’ve marked “No” for “Show widgets on the posts page?” Yet both widgets still appear on the blog posts page… What am I doing wrong? Is this an incompatibility with my theme? Or, what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks very much.

Did you set the Home page and Posts page in the WordPress settings?

Thanks for responding. It turns out I didn’t understand the basics of the widget–I didn’t know that I needed to go into “Pages” and check or uncheck the individual pages I wanted. Because “Posts” and “Page with posts” were options outside of their listing under “Pages” (if that makes sense), I thought I had already done all the “Yes/No” settings I needed to do. Someone on another forum explained this to me and the problem is resolved… Maybe you could create a basic tutorial, or if one already exists make it a little easier to find? ??

    Thanks!

It depends on the way your Home page and Posts page are set up within the WordPress system. When The Posts Page is not the Home Page, then the posts page is basically a static page you have to set. The same is applied for Dynamic Widgets. So that’s why you find the Posts Page under Pages in that specific configuration.
