Widget type listing on home page and not other pages

I’d like to get the widget style listing on our home page.
We are a restaurant and live music venue 210restaurant.com
(Our site doesn’t look great now–fyi, I’m in the process of redesigning it)

What I’ve been trying to do is just have the left-sidebar widget only on the front page,
but I think it would be good to have 5-10 upcoming listings in the main content area and then a more button could take user to the music-calendar page (facebook-events page).
