I am trying to use the visibility function on Jetpack because I want to hide some widgets on a few of my posts. In viewing the instructions, https://jetpack.com/support/widget-visibility/ my Jetpack looks nothing like the description. I went to my theme’s widgets and I do not have the same information.

Can this function be used with the free version of Jetpack? Are there additional instructions?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @stacier,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble, but thanks for reaching out. The Free Jetpack plan includes this option, so there might be something off at your end that we can surely help you fix ??

From what you said, it looks like you cannot set any visibility options on any of your widgets. If you add a new widget, for example a text one, can you see the Visibility button at the bottom of the widget? Something like the widget on this screenshot. If you have this button, what happens when you click on it?

On the other hand, if you do not see the Visibility button on any of your added widget, can you try to temporarily switch your theme to Twenty Twenty and see if the problem persists? You’re welcome to use the Theme Switcha plugin to do that:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/theme-switcha/

This plugin lets you change themes without it affecting the way users see your site.

You can share a screenshot if that helps. You can create screenshots using something like Snipboard or Imgur and post the link here.

Let me know what you find out and we’ll take it from there. Thanks!

    Hello,

Thank you for responding. Yes, I have found the Visibility area on the widget but it is not working the way I thought it should.

My right sidebar widgets reach the bottom of the page, however, sometimes my posts are shorter, not reaching the bottom of the page. I wish to hide some of my right sidebar widgets for some of my shorter posts. https://girltalkaboutravens.com/?p=652&preview=true

I added the tag “short” to this post. I saved the tag and went back to the tag area to make sure it was saved. I am using the Classic Editor, not the block editor.

I wish to hide the last 3 widgets on the page. On Visibility, I chose HIDE (if) TAG (is) and on the dropdown menu, I was looking for the word “short” but it is not there.

So my question is, how do I hide the last 3 right sidebar widgets for shorter posts using Visibility?

    Hi @stacier,

Thanks for the further explanations. I can’t see the posts you linked because I don’t have access to your site, but I got a good idea of what you did and I replicated the same on my test site.

The good news is that the visibility restriction works on my end, so it’s not a bug of the plugin. I wonder if there might be something else that is conflicting.
Let’s go through the following troubleshooting steps to check for that:

    – Verify that all plugins are fully updated to the latest versions
    – Temporarily deactivate all plugins except Jetpack and Jetpack CRM to see if there’s a plugin conflict. If the issue is resolved with all other plugins deactivated, you can reactivate plugins one by one to discover which plugin is causing the problem.
    – Temporarily switch your theme to Twenty Sixteen and see if the problem persists? You’re welcome to use the Theme Switcha plugin to do that: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/theme-switcha/
This plugin lets you change themes without it affecting the way users see your site.
    – Check for JavaScript errors. If you’re not sure how to do that, you can follow this guide: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis`

I know it may seem a lot of work, but it’s worth it ??

Let me know what you find out and we’ll take it from there. Thanks!
