    Hi all!

I’m using the latest version of WordPress (4.0.1) with Jetpack installed.

Widget Visibility was working as expected with Jetpack 3.2, but when updating to 3.3 the “Show” and “Hide” options no longer seem to do anything. Selecting “Show” no hides the widget completely on all pages, no matter which options are selected. Equally strangely, selecting “Hide” will show the widgets on all pages.

I can confirm that this problem can be replicated whatever theme I’m using, and with all plugins deactivated apart from Jetpack. It even seems to affect brand new installations with nothing else intalled but Jetpack.

    Cheers!

    Joe

  • Same here. Pages set with “hide” show everywhere, pages set with “show” don’t show anywhere since I updated jetpack a few minutes ago. Is there a way to fix this?

    Thanks!

I reverted to the previous version of Jetpack and that fixed the problem! Seems to be something in 3.3!

Me too, now everything is back to normal. I hope they come up with a solution, though!

    Thanks!

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Could you both try to delete Jetpack and reinstall it from scratch, and let me know if it helps?

    Hi Jeremy,

No luck reinstalling from scratch, unfortunately. I’ll try again on a clean WordPress installation on another server to see if maybe my server setup is the problem.

Ok, I’ve got something (hopefully) useful to report!

I tried installing on another server with a clean WordPress install and managed to reproduce the problem. However, I’ve discovered that the problem only occurs in the Secondary Widget Area of whichever theme I’m using. Widget visibility is working as expected in the Main Widget Area, just not in any other widget areas.

So far, I’ve tested in Twenty Twelve and Twenty Thirteen with the same results.

I tried reinstalling a couple times, but it didn’t help, the same thing kept happening. I am running v 3.2.1 on guavaprintstudio.com without problems.

@bernardop_rj Can you check if the problem is just in the Secondary Widget Area? If you move your widgets over to the Primary / Main Widget Area, does it work?

Thanks for the details. I was able to reproduce the issue as well.

Could you both try to deactivate the Infinite Scroll module in Jetpack, and let me know if it helps?

Hi Joe and Jeremy, I am only running widgets on the Content Sidebar and I don’t have Infinite Scroll active on my website.

    Thanks!

Just tried deactivating Infinite Scroll. No luck, unfortunately – the same problem appears whenever toggling Widget Visibility options in the Secondary Widget Area.

P.S. This is on a clean installation of WordPress 4.0.1. and Jetpack 3.3 – no other plugins. Tested with themes Twenty Twelve, Twenty Thirteen and Twenty Fourteen.

Thanks for giving it a try. We’re investigating on our end as well, and I’ll let you know what we find!

I’ve been trying to reproduce this under lots of different conditions and have still not had any luck. For those of you who it’s happening to: do you know what PHP version you’re running? Or whether you’re using any caching layers like APC or Memcached?
