    I might have designed my blog incorrectly. This is what I have:

    In my menu structure I have 17 categories.
    Where it says pages on the menu page I have four pages.
    Does that mean I designed my blog incorrectly?

    I am using a local host (MAMP PRO) to run WordPress. I can download “Same Category Post” plugin and activate without any problem. But the widget for the plugin want appear. I’ve checked for compatibility with WordPress version 4.7.3 and the plugin is compatible. I am using Twenty-ten theme if they means anything. Anyone please tell me how to resolve this problem?

    Hello e7car,

    the widget is not shown on (normal) static pages.
    Only on ‘post’ pages (this means blog post pages, WordPress says: ‘Single Post Pages’).
    WordPress knows two (probably more) basic kinds of page types: static ‘sites’ and posts. Posts are assigned to a category. So, different posts can have the same assigned category. If you click on one of your post, the Same Category Posts widget queries other posts with the same category as currently shown and displays this other posts.

    1. You have to assign a category page to your menu.
    2. Write posts which assign to this category
    3. Now the widget is only shown on one of your posts

    The aim from this widget is. If you have more than one categories and many posts (not static pages) you have assign the widget only once and the widget shows different posts on different post pages (not on static pages). (Static pages have no category assigned.)

    I’am a newbie when it comes to all the features and langue describing using WordPress. With that said, on the left side of the menu page in a box. I see page, posts,custom links,categories, and format in a box. On the right side under menu structure, are my categories. My categories have multiple post. How do I assign a category page to menu? And I know this sounds stupid, but how do you write posts which assign to this category?

    Right, within the Categories section, there’re your listed categories and you can add a category to the menu.

    One big advantage for WordPress is you can find much tutorials with Google.
