• I’ve been struggling with setting similar features across a number of blogs on a multisite, and from recent posts I see others have similar issues.

A few tools which sound like they might help:
    Default blog
    Site Creation Wizard
    Site Template
    Replicator
    YD site wide options
    New Blog Defaults

I’ve been using new blog defaults, which seems great,
I have tried New site wizard and site template but both these are limited to creating new sites, not modifying old ones.
When I tried both these plugins they did what they said, but when I tried to post from the new blogs, I couldn’t!

Any suggestions (and hope the list above is helpful to someone)
    Dallas

What are you trying to accomplish? Really, it depends what you want.

I’d like to be able to add a widget to some of my blogs in bulk: eg links or a RSS feed.
I guess hardcoding them in my them might be a way, but I’m still learning to read code and thus choosing the right spot can be hard (I’m using 2010 weaver theme which is a bit more complex than most, esp in the loop)
    Thanks for the quick reply

    Thanks ??

Adding a widget to existing themes, in bulk, is complicated. Replicator plugins, generally, just duplicate a site. So that’s great for all NEW sites, but not for existing ones ??

If you’re JUST doing links or an RSS feed, I’d probably hardcode it to grab the data from the main blog so you can edit it as you need.

That said, I found this: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/mu-widgets/

    No idea if it works.

I did check MU widgets out but its sort of the opposite to what I want.
Its like the default wp plugins (recent posts, search, meta) but you can put them on one blog but have them refer to another blog
So eg you can set it up so blog1.site.com has a recent posts widget which displays (your choice) blog2.site.com, but its not really multisite per se, more anothersite.

    – hardcode it mean open up sidebar.php and put the html in there that you want, outside the widget code.

    – you can also make your own widget,s with whatever links you want inside

Thanks, I’m having a go at that now trying to get an RSS feed in there. I really like the Better RSS widget so I’m trying to replicate some of the functions:
I’d like an RSS icon with a link to the feed, title with a link to the site and then the RSS feed with links to posts. I’d also like to put in icons for the twitter and facebook pages for each page.
I can do all this in HTML (with effort), but when the sidebar is full of PHP can I just put HTML straight in?
My HTML is basic and PHP nil.
Theres plenty of info on inserting an RSS feed, but I have to put in all the links manually.
Is there a way I can create a widget or code where I just enter URL once and it automatically appends the /feed for the icon and RSS list?
