Widgets for wpmu seperate from main blog?

Hi, I created a new user and created a new blog. I wanted to add widets to the blog and when I did the information from the main blog showed up. For example, I added “members” avatar and the members from the main blog is listed instead of the members of the user created blog. Is it because they do not work with wpmu? Is there other widgets I need to use to have blog owners use to seperate main blog from their blog? Maybe this is how it is supposed to work? I don’t know. Can anyone help explain?
