Widgets In Header Issue ( Help ! )

  • Hello, and thank you for checking out this post. And hopefully you can help me out here.
    I am using the ‘ Shades Of Gray ‘ WordPress Theme. It’s Header is really plain, and I have removed the Text and replaced it with my Logo. But still I have allot of empty space within my Header.
    Now, I know I can create a Custom Header Background in Photoshop. But, I would prefer to add some WordPress Widgets within my Header. Now here is where the problem is, I just don’t know if I can, or how to make this happen.
    Can someone help this poor WordPress baby out?

    Note, in the first link, the example used is creating a new page template. You can follow the same steps and just customize your header.php file to add widget areas to your header.

    Even I, who knows HTML and CSS, and too JavaScript can’t even understand what I was just reading. I left those links feeling more confused.

    Look, I just want to place my RSS feed and Social Network (Twitter), in my Header.

    Is that a reality?

    Looks like there might be some differences depending on the theme. I’m going to work on this some more this evening and work up some sensible straight forward instructions for you.

    I did quite a bit of research into this, and while it’s usually fairly easy to add widgetized areas into page templates, the header is a bit different.

    I would recommend either looking for a theme that already offers those in the header or consider having them appear in the sidebar instead of the header.

    You could also look for a theme (like Atahualpa for example) that allows you to easily add widgetized areas to your site’s header. Some themes may have widget ready headers built in as well.

    It’s actually no header than adding widget to any other template file. Everything else is down to HTML & CSS.
