My new site isn’t self-hosted, so I don’t think I can use jetpack. Is there a similar product for hosted sites? I made the move from self-hosted to hosted because I thought it would increase my options. It’s done quite the opposite.

Hm, I have not heard of them, but they appear to be a normal hosting provider, and you are hosted with them, and that is generally all we mean by “self-hosted.”

Can you not add plugins via Plugins -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard?

I just went looking in Plugins. Thanks for the suggestion! There’s one for custom sidebars that might be the answer and some others for widgets. I’ll give them a try. Thanks!
