Widgets not flexible enough….

I have small content areas that I would like to setup, clients would need to be able to edit them, I setup widget areas but the default text editor doesn’t provide enough functionality since the clients won’t know HTML, I tried some of the rich text plugins for widget areas but they all seem to be buggy. Any suggestions on how to handle this better? Is there a way to add a rich text editor to the widget area?
