• This is for 2.9.2, someone ought to update the options.

I’ve seen this has been a long-standing problem, going back as far as 2.8.2, but none of the solutions I’ve seen have worked for me at all.

When you go into the Widgets screen, nothing works. All open tabs on the left close and you cannot click on any except Dashboard. You cannot click on Screen Options. You cannot click on any existing widget (all arrows are grayed out), you cannot add any new widgets, etc.

    I have:
    1. Switched to the default theme. No change.
    2. I have deactivated all plug-ins. No change.
    3. Re-uploaded fresh wp_admin and wp_includes from fresh download. No change.

Most of the suggestions I’ve seen seem to have been caused by GoDaddy hosting, which I do not use (or any variation).

I just checked and another blog on the same server using the same version works just fine so it’s not the server.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

  • This is not a WordPress problem. 9 times out of 10 it’s a plugin issue. The 10th time it’s a theme issue. Have you tried resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I already said I changed to the default theme and it didn’t help, I just reset the plugins folder (created an empty plugin folder) and it still doesn’t work.

So.. not plugins, not theme… other options?
