• When I go into the Dashboard or any other screen “HELP” is greyed out and will not work if pressed. Also –

If I go into Widgets, I see my widgets available on the left side. If I drag them to the available positions on the right side (Sidebar 1, for example) they will not install. If I refresh the page, then anything that I dragged to the right side is no longer there….

    HELP!

Thanks in advance for your time!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    increasing your available memory?

I did de-activate and re-activate in various orders my two plug-ins. I also tried doing a widget install with NO plugins activated – same issue. I have modified the theme and don’t want to switch. My wife uses the same theme and has no problems with it – Suffusion 3.4.6 – so that’s probably not it.

It seems strange that the HELP button does not work when the plugins are not activated.

How do you “reset” the plugins folder?

Also, this was an automatic install of WordPress via GoDaddy’s control panel… any thoughts there?

I have 4 gig of memory in my PC and run Vista – should be good to go…

It’s the memory allocated to your remote site that you need to change. Have a look at the link I gave above.

I had the same problem with one of the plugins.

I followed the steps and found out which one was glitchy.

    Its called WP Events Calendar

If you activate this one you wont be able to drag and drop your widgets.
