• Hello!
I’m new to all this, but I’ve made made minor changes to do with width etc and removing the gap above the header, and i’ve pretty much got my website looking how i want it to, but there’s just a few minor changes that i cannot figure out.

I will do my best to explain, but apologies in advance for not using the correct terminology!!

This is my website https://www.danajundi.co.uk and it uses the twenty eleven template.

When using IE, Maxthon or Firefox, the width of the website is exactly how i want it, but in Chrome it shows up much narrower.

However, on all 4 browsers, the text within the website is much narrower than the website itself. I hope i’m explaining this right. I think it’s to do with the text margins?

    So my questions are:
-How can i make it so that the website is wider in Chrome (so that it matches the look in IE, Maxthon and Firefox)?
-How can i make the text box wider so that it fills the space?
-How can i reduce the font size of the page titles (i.e. “lessons”, “location” and “contact”?

Thank you very much in advance, and apologies for the highly amateur descriptions i’ve used!

    Dana

ok, so i’ve figured out the text size, but would still appreciate your expertise with the rest ??

Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. First create a child theme for your changes. Or install a custom CSS plugin.

    Thanks for your response esmi.

Am i best to uninstall the theme, then reinstall and create a child theme and edit that? I only made a few minor changes which i can easily redo.

Once i’ve done that, how would i be able to resolve the width issue?

    Thank you in advance

Are all of your changes CSS? Or have you changed any of the template files?

i think so… the only made changes i made were in the style.css file.

In that case, you could just install a custom CSS plugin and move all of your changes over to that plugin.

thank you so much for your time.

ok, so i installed the one click/child theme plugin, and in the child theme style sheet i copied a few bits of code that i’d learnt in the forums, to make same minor changes.

my question is now, how do i go about using the child theme to make the following changes:

    – make the margins of the text boxes wider
    – reduce the font size of the page titles to 18 (i.e. “lessons”, “location” and “contact”)
    – remove the gap between the nav bar and the titles
    – remove the gap between the titles and the main text.

thank you again for your time and patience! Just cant get my head round how to use the child theme!

update: i’ve reduced the font size of the titles and removed the space between the titles and the main text.

all i need to do now is remove the gap between the nav bar and titles, and make the margins of the main text wider.

any help would be greatly appreciated ??

thank you again for all your help!
