Just found out my host does not allow wildcard subdomains on their shared packages – as I need to set upo multisites this isn’t ideal!
However, I have just tried adding the subdomains as Parked Domains – unlimited on my account – and it seems to work!

ie: https://www.domain.com in the main site – have set up 2 multisites – test01 and test02 – added test01.domain.com and test02.domain.com as parked domains with no redirection and all seems fine with the standard WP3.01 setup with no changes so far.

What I need to know is: is there any technical reason why this won’t work? If so, not really a problem as the host offers a 30 day money back guarentee – but the price is right so I’d prefere to stay with them lol

Any advice would be most gratefully accepted!

    Many thanks

No, it’ll work. You just have to add them manually is all.

That’s good – will keep the current host and see how it goes ??

    Many thanks for the reply.

I just had a very similar issue after moving my 2 year old blog to GoDaddy. I went to the DNS manager and put in a new DNS record for the wildcard domain *.yourdomain.com (The same place you used to set your A record). After a couple hours it seems it propagated and all the subdomnain sites that had been created since I moved to the new server were working. This was just a couple hours after GoDaddy told me I could not add the subdomain into the httpd.conf or VHOST files.

Not sure if it will work for you, I am still not sre why it is working for me even. lol

Yeah, tried that before putting a support ticket on – just gave an error saying it was an invalid domain!

But, the parked domain thing seems to be holding up so it’s fortunatly not a problem for now lol

The host is Mochahost by the way – apart from that tiny issue they seem OK!
