Will a WordPress blog hold up to heavy traffic?

Hi … I’m not really sure which version of WordPress blog I’m using, but wanted to ask for feedback regarding the stability of a WordPress blog when it comes to posts that receive extremely high traffic.

Has anyone had issues with this? Is there any steps you can to take to avoid the site crashing under heavy traffic?
