• This is going to be a great new direction when it’s complete. Those who wish to continue just using the editor to write and add photos, audio, video or attachments can simply use a block with the editor. Those who want elaborate designs do not need to depend on themes and plugins but start with a simple theme, a blank slate/page and design to their heart’s content.

I’ll give Gutenberg a five when it’s fully functional so that when I click “New page” or “New Post” it pops me up the interface to begin adding blocks. Now it seems I can only use Gutenberg to edit existing posts and pages.

It seems like you’re having a bug that’s probably related to your setup (conflict with one of the other plugins you use on your site).

What happens exactly when you try to create a new post using Gutenberg? Any error on the browser’s console? is it a blank page?

Hi Riad @youknowriad, I get a blank editing area. However, when I create a page/post (Pages>Add New) with the classic editor then switch to Gutenberg, the page displays as it should. This is even though I have not actually named the page or post.

I also notice that in Gutenberg mode the entire screen refreshes rather than just the area for the editor as generally the case with the classic editor.

    Some things you can try:

    – Open the browser’s console and see if there’s any JavaScript error or network request error
    – Do you use Cloudflare or a security plugin?
    – You can try to disable plugins one by one to see if there’s any conflict with other plugins.

@youknowriad, I had been going through the plugins and identified one causing the issue: podPress, which I’ve disabled. https://www.mightyseek.com/podpress/

Good catch. might be good to check with the plugin authors if they have any plans on checking their plugin for Gutenberg compatibility. They could also help us if it’s a valid breakage that should be fixed in Gutenberg itself.

I’ve sent an email to the author. It’s apparently not in the WP repository but hopefully the author is responsive.

    Best.
