Installed the plugin and configured everything. A2HS prompt was showing up on android chrome, however: When using standalone version of site from saved homescreen item, the site will not let me get past the password page.

The site is a single page, and it is password protected using WPs default page pass protection.

The website still worked fine in the browser, so it seems to be something to do with the saving to homescreen and the standalone mode perhaps.

I have disabled and uninstalled the plugin for now. However, the settings and manifest still exist and therefore the problem still exists. Help!

How can I delete service worker and manifest to stop this problem from happening?
this problem disappeared, guess it took a bit for the manifest and SW to get removed.

Still, the problem with not loading past the password page persists.

EDIT: The problem seems to be fixed (sort of) by changing the Caching Strategy for each option to “Network First” or “Network Only”. However, this means slower load times. “Stale While Revalidate” and “Cache first” do not work and create this problem of not being able to get past the password screen.

  • Dear Jacob,

I have the same problem with password and PWA.

Did you manage to find a solution?

    Kind regards

This WordPress pages is protected by a password:

This password works perfect in a webbrowser, but not in Progessive Web App.
I cannot acces this page in the webapp with this password.

@vslimmer @magazine3 For me, it seemed the only way I could get the app to work properly was by setting all of the Caching Strategies (Settings > Advance > Caching Strategies) to “Network First”; With any other strategies selected, the app would encounter issues.

Offline mode still doesn’t work great with “Network First” chosen.

With the other strategies selected, even if I could manage to consistently get past the password page (many times, I could not) then the webapp itself would have trouble with loading some content.

We checked your issue on https://qula-trails.com/utopia-2/. As we debug issue, currently there is no option for password auto filled by web app in PWA. Because there is a temporary web view page , information stored in that main browser not in PWA app browser.
