Will removing categories effect search engines

  • Hi,
    I just started with WordPress, so sorry if the questions are so newbie.

    1) I want to remove the categories on the left hand side.

    I see that I can delete them in admin/categories but wondered a) if that would remove them from the front page and b)if it would effect the search engines. I want to put ‘adsense’ there instead.

    2) “About” appears twice at the top. How do I remove one of them?

    3) When I hit ‘visit site’ I sometimes can’t get back back to admin again without logging in again because if I use the back button I get a ‘page expired’ message. Is there a way to ‘preview’ the page instead of leaving it?
