Will search engines see the translated text?

So, I’m about to work on a new site which will be done in English, but needs to have a Spanish translation. Will search engines see the Spanish translations? Will one of the WordPress SEO plugins see the Spanish text or do I need to add Spanish keywords and descriptions?
These questions are for anyone who has used this plugin.
