Will the plugin be updated to use the new filter in WP 5.3

Sorry for the delayed response.

In the current version of the plugin we’re already using the wp_generate_attachment_metadata filter to identify when images might need to be compressed. We only use the wp_update_attachment_metadata function to update the metadata after compressions. We don’t hook into that filter. Our apologies for making it sound like we needed to update the plugin.

The reason why it was listed on https://make.www.ads-software.com/core/2019/11/05/use-of-the-wp_update_attachment_metadata-filter-as-upload-is-complete-hook/ is probably that they merely searched for any reference to wp_update_attachment_metadata and didn’t look into how it was actually used per plugin.

The plugin should be working fine in WordPress 5.3. We will release a minor update soon to also address that on https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/tiny-compress-images/
