I like this plugin, but it apparently overwrites some core javascript, which causes the new link tool in 4.5 to become buggy. The behaviors are

    1) the link tool doesn’t go away after adding a link

    2) in the link options dialog, there is placeholder text _wp_link_placeholder that appears in the URL area, which must be doubleclicked/stroked and deleted before entering a new URL.

These cause a significant usability issue, with many new required clicks and reduced productivity.

The only solution right now is uninstalling this plugin. Would love it to simply be fixed, if possible. This plugin hasn’t been updated in a year, so it’s clearly not been tested with 4.5, and should be marked as not compatible with 4.5 until it is fixed.

  • One week ago I contacted the author with a solution. But unfortunately I did not get an answer.

So I added the Rel Nofollow Checkbox to a Plugin I just released:
    Advanced WPLink

Besides the rel=”nofollow” checkbox, this plugin lets you choose wether you want to use the inline link tool or not (it works with both) and add some styling possibility.^

I’d love to get some fedback and I’m always open for improvements.

PS: Don’t forget to deactivate “Rel Nofollow Checkbox” when using my Plugin.

Btw, “rel nofollow checkbox” is now compatible with WordPress v4.7.
