Will this layout/design work?

  • The past few days I have been working on a layout that I was going to use for my website and now that I have downloaded and uploaded WordPress I was wondering if the layout I have made is suitable for WP.

    I know very little CSS and tend to stick to making my layouts strictly from graphics and just using small coding to get things to show up where I need them too.

    Seeing as how this is the first time I have really had to slice an image for something like a blog, I am not sure if my graphic will work as a template. I really hope I will be able to use it.

    My plan is to put the links on the side of Sarahs/Buffy face on her cheeck and then of course to have my blog and other page content show up in the white text area to the right of SMG/Buffy.

    Will this be easy to do?

  • With an irregular edge, it will be tough to create a slice that will expand nicely as your page lengthens. However, there are ways around that, but I won’t recommend them. Most of it will set up just fine, though!

    As far as being easy, well, that has a different meaning to each individual. I will say that if you are fearless and willing to break things and get frustrated enough to eat nails, then go for it! You may find it will go smoothly, or you may find yourself sitting and staring at your monitor for hours trying to figure out the tiniest thing that is causing you grief.

    I say go for it. No better way to learn and expand your skills and knowledge.

    Isnt there a way where I can restrict it so that my page doesnt expand though?

    hmmm… guess I will start all over with a design from scratch… one not made up 100% of graphics. Suppose to use the page as in 4 areas, huh? Top header, right column, left column, footer??

    Found many great links here on creating CSS sites. After I learn that, then I will just have to learn where to place what proper WordPress tags where to have blog show properly ??
