Using Internet Explorer 11, Window 8.1 and WordPress 3.6.n I have the old cursor hop problem.

In visual mode, insert a picture or a hyperlink and no matter where the cursor is, the insert is at the top of the story.

This has happened before when IE new ships but this time it didn’t show up in IE11 on Windows 7 or Win 8.1RTM/IE11.

  • I do not have access to Windows 8.1 to test this but have you tried an alternate browser as a temporary workaround?

    I’ve the same problem!

It happens in IE11 both Modern and Desktop. It does not happen in Chrome 30.

Internet Explorer is the undisputed king of browsers with more than 50% market share.

Chrome sucks so bad in Windows 8 that it is unusable except for testing.

Like I said above, this happens every time MS ships a new version of IE. WordPress is incompatible and within awhile, after denial, someone fixes the problem.

Years ago people told me to stop using IE, you can edit in code and visual mode together and other put offs. I love WP but it needs to update to Windows 8. Like having the left right slide feature built into the code and themes.

It doesn’t really matter how big a browser says it is, it’s how much of the audience is using that browser.

Please don’t provoke this kind of browser-war discussion.

Thanks for raising the issue and it’ll be looked into. In the meanwhile can you switch to another browser as suggested.

Could you post this request in a new thread on the Requests and Feedback forum https://www.ads-software.com/support/forum/requests-and-feedback#postform ?

Well if 50% of my audience is using IE then I need to be compatible but then there’s me working lots of hours everyday churning out stories. Firefox is a bust on Windows 8. Chrome is buggy and has no touch or pinch and zoom features.

I will stick with IE and try to remember that if I add a link or photo in visual mode, it will land at the top of the edit window.

    Cheers,sp

Have you tested it on a default theme with ALL plugins deactivated?

I am using the default theme or at least twenty twelve and no did not turn off all the plugins. If the cursor was behaving properly on Wednesday and acting up on Thursday, what’s new? Windows 8.

TinyMCE is getting an update in 3.7 so this may be addressed then.

Sorry, I was referring to this comment specifically:
