A weird problem popped up this morning. While writing a post, the windows that allow you to “Add Media” or “Add Links” would not appear during the Visual Preview of writing a post.

On the Text preview, none of the options to add media and other features populated above the text box at all.

I was able to add links and media through basic text coding, but it really slowed me down. Anyone know what’s going on?

  • Most likely a conflict with another plugin that have installed recently. De-activate any recently installed plugins and double check the issue is still there.

Thank you for your suggestion. It seems I found the culprit: Use Google Libraries, version 1.5.2. Once I deactivated it, everything cleared up.

That plug-in hasn’t been updated since May. WordPress now is supposed to update its basic program automatically; would one of those updates have come into conflict with that plug-in?

Because the majority of Use Google Libraries is driven by WordPress core it seldom requires updates, which is why it hasn’t been updated.

If you want to start a thread under UGL Support maybe I can help figure out what’s going on.

    Hi Jason

I have the same problem – the Add Media button stopped working. I’ve fixed it by disabling the ‘Use Google Libraries’ plugin, but I wondered if you had any suggestions for a fix so I can re-enable the plugin.
