    With the recent update to 1.8, I now see the search box in a smaller window size, but I now can no longer bulk upload image files. When I try, the first one uploads, then the second one goes but never appears to complete. It never times out either. If I do an update on my post, the image that appeared to stall out is successfully uploaded, but no other images will have gone through. When I deactivate the plugin, I can bulk upload images with no issues.

    Thank you for raising this issue. I’ve just tried a quick experiment and I was able to upload a batch of eight (8) images without any problems. However, there are several ways to upload images and you may be having trouble with a different part of the code.

    My experiment started with editing a post and clicking “Add Media”. When the Media Manager Modal Window opened up to the “Insert Media”/”Media Library” screen I simply dropped the eight images into the thumbnail area in the middle of the window. All eight uploaded, got the “selected” checkmarks for insertion and the last image was selected in the ATTACHMENT DETAILS area.

    This worked for me in both WordPress version 3.8.1 and 3.9-beta 2. If you haven’t tried this particular upload procedure, see if it works for you.

    If you could tell me in more detail how you are trying to upload I can better reproduce your symptoms. You could also try the Media/Add Media submenu to see if the problem only occurs in the Media Manager Modal Window.

    Thanks for any additional information you can give me.

    Just got up. I have to get into work, but when I get home, I’ll get you those details. In the meantime (a quick rundown), I did try uploading from the post by (1) selecting files, which is how I usually do it, and (2) drag-and-drop selected files from Windows Explorer. In both cases, the images choked on the 2nd one.

    Thanks for the update – I’ll look forward to more information.

    As I said, there are different places to upload files, one of which might work for you:

    1. The Media/Add New submenu “Upload New Media”, will add items to the Library independent of any post. Try this one to see if the Media Manager Modal Window is the only source of trouble.

    2. The Edit Post/Add Media (Media Manager Modal Window), on the “Media Library” tab where the existing Media Library items are shown. You can drag & drop on top of the existing items. This is the route I tried with good results.

    3. The Edit Post/Add Media (Media Manager Modal Window), on the “Upload Files” tab, where you can either drag & drop or click “select Files”. This also worked for me, but may give different results.

    I need to know which of those three places is giving you trouble and if any of the three are working at all. You can also try two other experiments, which would be very helpful.

    1. Go to the Settings/Media Library Assistant General tab, scroll down, uncheck the “Media Manager Checklist meta boxes” and “Media Manager Flat meta boxes” options, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes. This will disable the new code in v1.80 that uses the ATTACHMENT DETAILS area. It is the most likely source of trouble.

    2. Go to the Settings/Media Library Assistant General tab, scroll down, uncheck the “Enable Media Manager Enhancements” option, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes. This will disable all of the MLA code; nothing will be downloaded to the Media Manager Modal Window. If this fixes the trouble you can use the other parts of MLA without disturbing your media uploading.

    Anything more you can tell me will be useful. Thanks for your patience and all your help.

    1) The Media/Add New submenu “Upload New Media” — no problems (a batch of ten uploaded with no problem).

    2) Once it made it to three images before choking down on number 4. After that, it always choked down on image #2. (As an aside, I didn’t know images could be dragged-and dropped here.)

    3) Whether drag-and-dropping or uploading via file selection, it chokes out on image #2.

    Now for the plugin settings.

    1) Neither box was checked, so there was nothing to uncheck.

    2) This does fix the image uploading issue, but it makes the plugin void because now I can no longer do searches on the Alt field in images if I need to. ^_^;;;

    Thanks for your patience and all your help.

    You’re welcome and thank you for helping work through this.

    Thanks for running the experiments and posting your results.

    One more rhetorical question – was this working with MLA v1.71 or earlier? If you revert to an earlier version like v1.71 does work again?

    Can you upload two or more images one at a time?

    Since it works on my system but not on yours, I am not sure what else to suggest for you to try. I would be happy to investigate the problem myself if the site is accessible and You can give me temporary login credentials. I understand that may not be possible.

    If you can grant access to your site, you can send the account information through the Contact Us page at our web site:

    I was working in the earlier version. I’m not sure how to revert it though. ^_^;;;

    Trying the single load method, interestingly enough, the first image uploads, but then the second single image attempt chokes down. I have to update the post to break it free.

    I’ve created an account for you on my sandbox site, which has the same problems mentioned. I sent it via the Contact Us form.

    Oh — just so you know, everything is set to default for the plugin on the sandbox site.

    I had this problem, unchecking “Enable Media Manager Enhancements” in the settings seemed to fix it and I was able to bulk upload normally.

    Thanks for giving me access to your Sandbox site! I logged in using the account you set up and ran a couple of tests.

    You have definitely found a bug in the v1.80 release, which I will now be able to investigate and fix. I will post an update here when I have progress to report.

    Again, thanks for bringing this issue to my attention and for your help in finding the cause.

    Glad to be of service. ^_^ The account on the test box will remain active for now.

    @aptharsia — that option does allow me to bulk upload, but then if I need to search the image database based on the ALT box, I can’t do it without re-enabling that box. ^_^;

    I have released version 1.81, which should correct this problem.

    I will leave this topic unresolved until I hear back from you on your experience with the new version. Thanks again for your help!

    Confirmed both on my sandbox and on the live blog bulk images work fine now. ^_^ Thanks for fixing this so quickly. ^_^
