  • It should be:

    SMTP Host: mail.your-domain-name.com
    SMTP Port: 25
    (Or Port 587 with SSL)
    Use SMTPAuth?: Yes
    SMTP username: [email protected]
    SMTP password: Your email password

    Hi winfly,

Sorry for any confusion; we’ve actually just made an edit to our own wiki regarding SMTP configurations. Port 587 is the recommended one to use here, with SMTP Auth enabled. If you’d like to use the SSL SMTP port, that would actually be 465. You’ll of course want to be sure your to/from addresses for the form are hosted with us @yourdomain.com as well. See this for further details! https://wiki.dreamhost.com/E-Mail_Client_Configuration

    Thanks!

That makes no sense to me.

The whole point of using this plugin so I dont have to use a dreamhost hosted email.
I dont want to, have no desire to now or ever…dreamhost just let me be!
So how do I set this up without using a dreamhost email?

You have to set it up the way that email says to (which we don’t know, because you haven’t told us what email you’re using ?? ).

In general, you put that email’s information in the plugin fields.

I’m on DreamHost and have found that the settings depend on various variables. Even though my clients are using Google Apps mail with DreamHost hosted domains, some of them have to use

smtp.googlemail.com (seems to be older installations)
    465 SSL
    From: [email protected]

    While others use
    mail.thisdomainname.com
    465 SSL
    From: [email protected]

Yeah, I’ve seen the same inconsistency for everyone using Google… I have no idea what they’re up to now :/
