With WordPress 3.5 removing "LINKS" from the dashboard, can we use Link Library?

With WordPress 3.5 removing “LINKS” from the dashboard, can we use Link Library to replicate the same functionality (or better) that the standard LINKS feature that was in WordPress (prior to v3.5) and display a list of links in the sidebar using a widget? Or is the Link Library plugin more appropriate to be displayed online in a full page or post? If it can be used in a sidebar, in a widget, can anyone point me to some examples?
Currently, at https://www.compassionforanimals.net/ I am using the regular LINKS from WordPress in the sidebar on the home page. I want to be able to closely replicate this when WordPress discontinues the “old” LINKS feature.
