• Version 3.9. is still online, although it is well known, that this update causes servere problems and crashes all websites.

So why has 3.9 not been withdrawn yet?
This ist simply irresponsible, especially for less experienced admins.

  • Time to move on to another backup plugin. Customer support should be #1 and clearly it’s not for this dev.

    Right!
Just installed BackWPup in all projects and deleted BackUpWordPress.

I considered this plugin one of the best backup plugins available for its easiness and lightweight approach. I have used it on hundreds of clients’ websites which also happened to have the auto-update on. Yesterday was a nightmare as I had to fix all of them – still fixing many today! It was really reckless by this developer by not testing the update before releasing it. I will never use this plugin again.

Wordpress should also have something in place to avoid the whole installation breaking it due to a plugin issue.

Guess developer doesn’t care or is not aware of this.

Hopefully tagging him will help: @xibodevelopment

I’m in the same boat, Harrison Ortega – and thought I’d gotten them all done, but one just came up now. Right now I’ve deactivated it on all sites, and am considering the alternatives. REALLY disappointed in the lack of response from the (new) developer and do not understand why WP hasn’t forced them to withdraw this update. Please come back, HumanMade…(and @xibodevelopment, if you’re not going to stand behind statements like “So we will be been actively providing support to users of BackupWordPress, and will be maintaining it as it’s an excellent and well-loved plugin.” then why make them? False promises…) ??

Basically, this was a mistake… I saw that a lot of files are missing under several directories, and that’s what is ‘blowing up’ all websites — PHP simply bombs when it’s told to include files that are simply not there any more.

I’m sure that this was a stupid mistake at one point and that @xibodevelopment will quickly upload the missing files.

In the meantime, do not upgrade to 3.9!

Big problem, yes – but the 3.10 edition seems to work. Better not to autoupdate this app.
